It's the economy stoopid

Boo-hoo-hoo, bike racing is expensive!

Race the World is $45 and far away.

D2R2 (not a) Race is $100.

VT50 is $125 and will probably fill (tonight).

When did bike racing get so expensive?

You cheap mofos need to step up and buy some sinks!
(like the Harmonizer)

Skip the first 2 you have listed and come race the VT50 with us, you'll even have some change leftover. Yes, it will probably fill up tonite.

Disregard, it filled up in 12 minutes.

If only you bought a sink...

I hear you. Add in $4.00 per gallon, a gas hog that gets 13MPG, and racing has been put on the back burner for me this year. I never thought about the gas expense before, even though gas was expensive last year. I have traveled over 300 miles in a day round trip to race. NEVER again! I can ride my MTB for free and I have a great trail system that I can get to in about a minute and that adds up to me not racing. There are a lot of other benefits too, like more time with the family, but it also means the blog has no updates or race reports. Oh well!

Buying a sink would have gotten me in the VT50?

If it makes you feel better on Oct 1 you can ride the filthy50 for virtually free. Food and beverages to follow with KOM awards for 3 climbs.

D2R2 was $70 back in January. You should have taken the $133.51 you saved ytd in commuting out of your cookie jar and signed up for VT50.

When are any of you guys going to do D2R2 anyway? All I hear is, next year, next year. I mean, I relented and started racing mtbs...

But then I wouldn't have any cookies

I've been saving money this season by sitting my ass on the couch. Dorittos are way less expensive than entries, gas, energy bars and drinks.

I am fat.

I might do the 40 mile green river tour with my daughter on the tandem!

Have to agree with FJames - gas is only going to get more expensive and who wants to drive 300 mi in a day for race? What you need is a state series and then a championship series.

In some ways I am glad that gas has gotten so pricey and race fees are higher- it gives me an excuse for being lazy.

Expensive gas = fewer cars on road to run me over. Thank you opec.
