Or someone with a penchant for rigid singlespeeds find joy on a geared hardtail?
Have carbon frames improved in the decade plus since I owned one?
Maybe most importantly what is the right tool for the job in 2012?
Foundry Cycles might have the answers to all these questions.
Foundry is looking for 5 individuals to campaign their bikes this season.
If you're chosen, you even get to choose which type of bike they'll provide you to race.
Race, report, repeat it says.
I like that.
I like their philosophy too:
It's a Tool - Not a Trophy
Foundry believes that a bike is a tool, a means to an end – not a trophy. It's about producing purpose built high-performance carbon bicycles that aren't traveling billboards – they're understated, they're cool, they're anti-pretentious, and they're meant to be ridden.Sounds like my kinda bike!
For me, the Router would be the obvious choice, seeing as I mostly race the mtb.
But I've gotta say the Auger Disc CX bike is pretty dang sexy, in a stealthy brute kind of way.
So let's not beat around the bush here, just in case I've been too subtle up to this point:
I want to race a Router this year. I'd like to see if I can up my game in the ultra competitive Cat1 40-49 class, as well as try my hand at longer 40-100 mile races where having a carbon frame, gears and a squishy fork may hold fatigue at bay a little better than steel on steel. Could Foundry have the right tool for the job? I want to find out.

There is something wrong when a brand of carbon fiber bikes is called "Foundry" - something not quite right from the get go.
No?
Why that choice for a name - I don't get it?
How about Layup Cycles (as in Carbon fiber layup)? That seems more appropriate. ;)
You've got to stop thinking like Peggy Olsen and start thinking more like Don Draper.
That is a nice looking frame especially for the price. Plus it's PF30 so you can use one of those swanky Problem Solver EBB's and run it SS
The Router sure looks nice!
